At 3rd anniversary, CBP Builds On Security Successes
Since its creation in March 2003, CBP has achieved steady progress in securing our nation’s borders against terrorists and other criminals while continuing to facilitate travel and trade.
The agency has accomplished this through a series of multilayered defense strategies, through bilateral and private-sector partnerships and by using technology to extend our zone of security beyond our physical borders. To support these efforts, CBP developed an integrated, unified, recognizable workforce that combines and capitalizes on the skills of each individual within it.
“We have come a long way since September 11, 2001 to secure our nation’s borders, strengthen the international global supply system and unify as one agency,” said Acting CBP Commissioner Deborah J. Spero. “Today, our borders and ports are more secure than ever.” Read more at cbp.gov
Student Exchange and Visitors Program, or SEVP program
SEVP is designed to improve processes for foreign students and exchange visitors holding F, J, and M visas, and schools, colleges and other organizations sponsoring programs for these visa holders. SEVP will facilitate and automate several processes affecting foreign students
